Tibouchina Plant Profile and Growing Hints
Tibouchina grandiflora 'Purple Glory Shrub'.
Tibouchina (previously known as Lasiandra) is a much loved plant in QLD, however in the right conditions Tibouchina can be grown as far south as Melbourne where we have seen then growing in the Dandenong Ranges as shrubs or small trees.

Tibouchina prefer a well drained, slightly acidic soil, however they are reasonably versatile and will grow in most warm to temperate regions. Tibouchina can be pruned after flowering to maintian shape. Tibouchina are pest and disease resistant. Tibouchina 'Purple Pixie's' is a low growing variety to 2m. Tibouchina urvilleana grows to 4m. Tibouchina Alstonville grows to 5m.

Tibouchina 'Totally Moonstruck' is a new cultivar with pearly white flowers.
