Native gardenia - Randia chartacea and other species. A number of Randia species are refered to as 'Native Gardenia'. All are tropical to subtropical plants from Queensland. Some species are grown in Sydney gardens and some even further south, however frost is a problem and most Randia species grown further south than Sydney are in 'micro climates' that provide extra warmth and fredom from frosts. Native gardenia - Randia chartacea and other species

Randia chartacea is known as the Native Gardenia, a small shrub which has attractive white perfumed flowers. A rainforest tree from tropical to sub tropical QLD.

The closely related Randia benthamiana is known as the Narrow Leaved Gardenia. Randia fitzalanii also known as 'Native Gardenia' or Yellow Mangosteen.

Try growing in a position in semi-shade and a humus rich moist soil, sheler from frost.
