Calodendrum capense - Cape Chestnut - Rutaceae
Calodendrum capense is an evergreen tree growing from 8 - 12 m depending on conditions. In summer Calodendrum capense has masses of showy pink flowers (Calodendrum Capense Chandlers Silver has white flowers with pink stamens). Calodendrum capense forms a dense symmetrical crown is relatively slow growing and can be frost tender when young.

Calodendrum Capense is the pink flowering Cape Chestnut and Calodendrum Capense 'Chandlers Silver' is the white flowering species.

Both species are excellent small evergreen trees growing to approximatly 10m. Frost tender when young Calodendrum capense are generally a hardy tree, that require some water during dry periods.

Calodendrum Capense grows well in most areas although it will struggle in Alpine areas and Southern Tasmania.
