Nashi Fruit
Nashi Fruit (Pyrus pyrifolia) are also known as Nashi Pears and Asian Pears. Nijisseiki is a yellow skinned variety and the most common variety, originally from Asia (Japan). Hosui has a brown skin. Kosui is a smallish tree reaching arond 3m. Nashi pears, are suited to espalier growing. Different varieties have different keeping qualities and ripening times so talk to the supplier before purchasing
A vesratile fruit tree the Nashi can be grown in similaar conditions to pears. Most require a pollinator. Tsu Li is pear shaped nacho with yell green skin as is Ya Li. Okusankichi is one of the largest fruiting varieties, late to fruit, but long lasting, with a brown skin. |
