Epacris are found on the east coast of Australia from southern Queensland to Tasmania and accross to South Australia. With about 40 species in the genus Epacris are low growing shrubs from .2m to 2.5m, most under 1.5m. Epacris are known as heaths or Australian heaths. Epacris have tubular flowers and Epacris longifolia (pictured right) is know as the native fuchsia, red flowers tipped with white. Epacris-impressa-(bega), has shorter red tubular flowers (pictured below) while Epacris-impressa white,is the white flowering form (bottom picture).
