Calostemma , Plant Profile and growing conditions

Calostemma flower in late summer and are a wonderful Australian Bulb well suited to the garden. With both Red and Yellow flowering types Calostemma are a drought tolerant bulb not widely seen in gardens

Calostemma are a native bulb found in the border areas of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia (Riverina).
Growing to 30cm Calostemma Pururea (or purpureum) is probably the best known. Strap like foliage and red tubular slightly pendulus flowers on a tall stem, Calostemma Purpureum are suitable for the rock garden or for growing in pots.

Calostemma Aurea and the yellow flowering Calostemma lutea are also worth looking for
