Alyogyne huegelii (pictured right) and Alyogyne hakeifolia plants species and cultivars are often referred to as the 'Native Hibiscus' are found in SA and WA and will flower from spring though summer. The 'Native Hibiscus' or Alyogyne huegelii and Alyogyne hakeifolia are distantly related to the hibiscus, but found only in Australia. Large flowers from white through pink tom purple, the purple form (pictured right) is the most common form. |

Growing Conditions and Care A fast growing plant Alyogyne huegelii needs to be pruned on a regular basis to prevent it bocoming to leggy. Drought tolerant and tough, although some protection from strong winds will promote a better flowering plant. Alyogne species are best left without fertilizer as they resent phosphorus. In damp or wet areas ensure good drainage. |
